What will hotel furnishing trends bring us for the coming season? To find out, we could pull out the crystal ball of interior design… but instead we use a much more reliable method: we turn to recent accommodation openings by the biggest names in design and architecture, and to those great hotels that set the decorative tone on Instagram, and therefore, in the whole world.

Join us on a walk around the world where we can already guess that the future to come will be marked by vegetable fibers, upholstered armchairs, rope chairs in bright colors, the wonderful ‘imperfections’ of the Wabi-Sabi style and the Mediterranean… take note!

Casa Grande Hotel, sophistication and sobriety in La Rioja

The latest project of the well-known Francesc Rifé Studio is a boutique hotel in La Rioja that takes advantage of the generous dimensions of the eighteenth century manor house in which it is located to draw design and very elegant interiors.

One detail of hotel furniture that fascinates us how they have used? The ubiquitous upholstered armchairs that we find in every room, bringing warmth and sophistication at the same time.

If you want to transfer that feeling to your accommodation, get hotel furniture elements such as the Bilussan upholstered chair, Contemporary style with tubular steel structure finished in black paint and seat and back upholstered in maroon, rust, terracotta or aqua green textile.

Pa.te.os, the new Aires Mateus in Alentejo

The precise architecture of the Aires Mateus brothers plays with volumes and light, and has the color white as its flag. Their houses and buildings blend tradition and Portuguese modernity in equal parts, to the point that they are considered the leading exponent of the country’s new architecture.

Their latest work, Pa.te.os, takes the form of four individual houses in the Alentejo, located on an 80-hectare estate covered with pine trees, olive trees, cork oaks and vines. The interiors in Nordic style, are characterized by the use of wood and natural fabrics in neutral colors.

Among its hotel furniture, we are inspired by its chairs, with organic shapes that embrace the body, as does Tiana. This seat, made of steamed bent elm wood with textile upholstered cushion and backrest in bulrush mesh, fits perfectly in an interior with a natural feel like this one.

Nobu Barcelona, modern luxury in the capital of Barcelona

The Japanese hotel and restaurant chain Nobu, behind which are such well-known faces as actor Robert De Niro, lands in Barcelona with a space that is pure luxury, by the interior designers of Rockwell Group. 

Upholstery, wood, noble stones and leather characterize its design, as can be seen in the hotel furniture chosen for its lobby bar.

This refined environment can be emulated with pieces of hotel furniture such as the Stefan Maxi high stool. Contemporary style, with tubular steel structure finished in powder paint and seat upholstered in brown leather-like textile.

Another element that fits like a glove is the Yaviki coffee table, with a metal structure finished in black paint and aged wood top. Its forceful and monumental, yet discreet, bearing has a lot of Bold style, and is pure trend when it comes to the very current round tables.

Oku Kos, bohemian casualness in the Greek islands

With the Japanese Wabi-Sabi philosophy as its main hallmark, the Oku hotel chain is characterized by a natural and handcrafted design in neutral tones, which invites maximum relaxation.

At its branch on the Greek island of Kos, with a private beach, it focuses on handmade pieces, such as raffia rugs, esparto grass baskets and lamps made of vegetable fibers.  

This look, very fashionable when choosing hotel furniture, can be achieved with ceiling lamp shades such as Breton Maxi, Mediterranean style made of natural rattan.

The Handical wooden nightstands, in rustic style, are another of those pieces of hotel furniture that would go wonderfully in a suite of this style, as they are handcrafted in solid recycled pine wood. As a result, they show the marks and irregularities of ageing that work so well in Wabi-Sabi interiors.​

In full color at Cubanito Ibiza, the king of social networks

Color is the emblem of Cubanito Ibiza, the hotel with the most saturated decoration in the networks. Young, dynamic, fresh and very Instagrammable, this lodging inspired by the tones of the Caribbean island makes design one of its most relevant aspects through a choice of eye-catching hotel furniture.

We love for example, their very characteristic rope chairs and loungers in red. Inspired by them, we took for a walk the Agosta rope chair, Contemporary style, with tubular steel structure finished in paint and seat and back in polyester rope. In this case, it includes a cushion, which ensures extra comfort. It is also suitable for outdoor use, as long as it is under cover.

Hotel furniture for the coming season: a mix of styles (with comfort as a common element)

High standing accommodations, lost in the middle of the countryside or full of bustling young people who do not stop broadcasting their every move through the Internet. All of them have custom-made hotel furniture that tells their particular story and defines them giving them a unique air, but if there is one thing they have in common beyond styles, it is comfort.

“Little, but very chosen and very comfortable, is the guideline. Therefore, textures will be the great protagonists of the year (and the more tasteful, the better),” we announced in our forecast of decorative trends for 2022. We can see that the maxim is not only true, but will continue to be the talk of the town next season.

The Bold trend will also continue to be in vogue, as it promotes the creation of friendly and more human spaces, while the Eco-Friendly style, characterized by the use of natural and sustainable materials, will continue to rise when it comes to choosing hotel furniture. It could not be otherwise in a society increasingly aware that the planet’s resources are limited, which increasingly looks with better eyes to the craftsmanship of decorative trends that are hitting very hard in recent months (and will continue to do so), such as the Mediterranean.
